Here you will find photos showing the environmental work we have carried out to try and improve the ecology of Gilling Beck. Our work aims to improve the habitat for the fish, birds and other wildlife. We are most grateful for the cooperation of the local farmers and the support and encouragement we have treceived from Skelton and Gilling Estates.

We believe that rivers and streams are the lifeblood of the countryside and that everyone should help to protect and preserve them. We work in collaboration with external organisations such as the Angling Trust, The Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust, The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and more recently the Save Our Swale Group and The Holmedale Nature Group. We also work with the Environment Agency and are most grateful for the supply of several thousand grayling fry to help replace the fish loss caused by pollution in April 2023. The beck is slowly recovering and we will continue our work to help restore it as much as we can.
